A market expansion required moving the production database to UTF-8 on a live system serving real customers, where a botched conversion means corrupted or lost data.

Rehearsed the character-set conversion for weeks, then executed it on the live production database without taking the product down. Zero customer data loss.

Real money and donor data ran through a platform that had never had a dedicated operations or security owner; developers ran all the infrastructure themselves.

Built the SRE function from scratch and closed the gaps before they became incidents: controlled deployment, centralized secrets, credential rotation, least-privilege access. Compute cost dropped roughly 40%.

Rebuilt it from a PHP marathon into an Airflow pipeline on S3 and Redshift, retiring a 14-node Elasticsearch cluster: runtime fell to about 1 hour and cost dropped roughly 80%.
